Max banka to merge with Banka CREDITAS in October

August 20, 2024

The planned merger of Max banka with Banka CREDITAS is approaching, with the merger set to take place on October 1, 2024. This merger, approved by the Czech National Bank, marks the culmination of a long-term strategy to bring the two banking institutions closer together, a strategy that Banka CREDITAS introduced immediately after acquiring Expobank and launching Max banka in September 2022. With the integration of Max banka's clients, Banka CREDITAS will have over 250,000 clients with a balance sheet total of around CZK 200 billion.

We are delighted to have successfully prepared both banks for the merger in a very short timeframe. The impact on Banka CREDITAS clients will be minimal, while Max banka clients will experience primarily a change in the bank code in their account numbers starting in October. A significant benefit for them is the introduction of instant payments, a service that Max banka has not offered until now. We believe that clients will be satisfied with the new bank,” said Eva Collardová, CEO of Banka CREDITAS. The technical process of merging the banks will begin on September 30, 2024.

Max banka's clients will continue to use all services and products in their existing mobile and online banking without any changes. In terms of deposit offerings, accounts, conditions, and fees, both brands are very similar – for example, free account maintenance, free ATM withdrawals worldwide, and attractive deposit interest rates. The advantage of Banka CREDITAS lies in its significantly broader product portfolio, including a wide range of investment options and children's accounts,” explained Ivana Pícková, CEO of Max banka and a member of the board of Banka CREDITAS. Max banka-issued payment cards, along with their associated services, will remain valid. Following the merger on October 1, 2024, all deposits held at Banka CREDITAS and Max banka will be insured as deposits within a single bank – up to a total equivalent of EUR 100,000.
