Max banka to merge with Banka CREDITAS in October
August 20, 2024
The planned merger of Max banka with Banka CREDITAS is approaching. The merger will take place on 1 October 2024. The merger, which was approved by the Czech National Bank, is the culmination of a long-term strategy of partnership between the two banking houses, which Banka CREDITAS presented immediately after the takeover of Expobank and the introduction of Max banka in September 2022. By transferring Max banka clients, Banka CREDITAS will have more than 250 thousand clients with a balance sheet total of around CZK 200 billion.
“We are very pleased that we have managed to prepare both banks for the merger in a very short time. Clients of Banka CREDITAS will hardly be affected by the change. Max banka clients will basically only have to change the bank code in the account number from October. The great news for them is the introduction of instant payments, which Max banka has not offered so far. We believe that clients will be satisfied in the new bank,” said Eva Collardová, CEO of Banka CREDITAS. The process of merging the banks will technically begin on 30 September this year.
“Max banka’s clients can use all services and products in their existing mobile and internet banking without any changes. Regarding deposit offers or accounts, conditions and fees, the two brands are very similar – e.g. free account maintenance, free withdrawals from ATMs around the world or attractive interest rates on deposits. The advantage of Banka CREDITAS is a significantly wider portfolio of products, such as a number of investment options or children’s accounts,” says Ivana Pícková, CEO of Max banka and member of the Board of Directors of Banka CREDITAS. Payment cards issued by Max banka, including additional services, will also continue to be valid. After the merger, from 1 October this year, all deposits kept in Banka CREDITAS and Max banka will be insured as deposits in one bank – for the equivalent of €100,000 in total.
