UCED Group celebrates ten years of growth and expansion
April 1, 2025
UCED, the energy division of the CREDITAS Group, celebrated its tenth birthday on 1 April 2025. In this decade, it became a major player on the Czech energy market. And expanded to other countries in the Central European region.

"In ten years, UCED has become a strong group that today employs a large number of professionals in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland and serves over 20,000 customers," says Richard Holešinský, CFO of the UCED Group. In 2015, UCED started with local distribution systems (LDS). Today, it is the largest operator in the Czech Republic. It manages LDSs in more than 160 locations, serving over 7,000 customers. In addition to distribution, UCED also focuses on other areas of the energy sector – it invests in the production of electricity and heat in the sources it operates. UCED is also a partner of the Czech and Slovak governments in the field of electricity – it helps them maintain the balance in energy networks.
The year 2024 brought UCED a significant expansion abroad – it completed the acquisition of the Slovak energy group GGE, one of the key players in Slovakia, which invests in various areas of the energy industry, from generation and distribution to supply and trading. GGE's most important assets include the steam power plant in Považská Bystrica, which is one of the largest of its kind in the region. GGE is also strong in electricity and gas supply, with its company ELGAS being among the leading suppliers of these commodities in Slovakia. At the turn of the year, UCED also entered the Polish market through the acquisition of Duon. It focuses on the distribution and sale of natural gas, including LNG. It manages more than 800 kilometres of pipelines and operates over 21 liquefied gas regasification stations.
In addition to the acquisitions, UCED is also building its own aggregation unit, into which it is gradually integrating large gas turbines, cogeneration units, renewables and other components to respond flexibly to market needs. Prostějov is currently finalizing the expansion of the gas power plant it operates to double its capacity. In the coming years, UCED plans to build several new steam power plants that will be ready to burn hydrogen. The total investment in these projects is in the order of tens of billions of crowns.
"We continue to look for further acquisition opportunities in the Central European region to expand our portfolio and strengthen our position in the energy market, and these are no small plans, explains the CFO of UCED Group. When planning new projects, we draw on the current UCED portfolio. Each such investment is aligned with our strategy. In addition to acquisitions, we invest hundreds of millions of crowns a year in expanding UCED's existing business in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland," adds Holešinský.
