CREDITAS Becoming Stronger in the Power Industry by Becoming the New Owner of Power Station
August 1, 2022
The energy group UCED from CREDITAS investment group consolidates its role in the Czech power industry. It has become the new owner of the power station UCED Elektrarna Prostejov s.r.o. It is a peak-efficiency source with a natural gas combustion turbine and power output of 58 megawatts (MWe). Primarily, it focuses on support services for the operator of the Czech electricity transmission system – CEPS.
“Thanks to the acquisition of Prostejov power station, UCED has become a major provider of the power balance service in the Czech Republic. Since 2022, it has been one of the local aggregators assisting CEPS with the stabilisation of electrical network in the Czech Republic, and the power station UCED Elektrarna Prostejov will become an important part of our aggregation block,” said Richard Holesinsky, UCED investment director, though he refused to comment on the transaction price on behalf of the group.
The energy group UCED has been one of the greatest power distributors in the Czech Republic. It is involved not only in distribution but also in power generation and supplies. The Prostejov power station is the second major acquisition of the group this year. At the beginning of the year, the group acquired one of the largest biomass heat production plants EC Biowatt, a.s. in Kutná Hora which was recently renamed to UCED Bio.
